Genera House

Wealth can be inherited.
Character, purpose and leadership must be developed.

Inspired by the psychology of generativity, we help families invest in their most important asset: the next generation.

Families often devote significant attention to preserving financial capital, yet the greatest determinant of long-term family success is often human capital: the values, capabilities, relationships and psychological wellbeing of the next generation.

At Genera House, we help families develop the emotional, social and psychological foundations that allow individuals, families and legacies to flourish across generations. Our work is inspired by the psychological concept of generativity: the desire and responsibility to nurture, guide and invest in future generations. We believe that a family's most important legacy is not what it leaves behind, but who it helps become.

Why Generativity?

The psychology behind
enduring legacies.

Most conversations about legacy focus on what is passed down. At Genera House, we focus on who it is passed to.

Research and experience consistently show that long-term family success depends on far more than financial resources. Wealth may create opportunities, but it does not automatically cultivate the emotional, social and psychological capacities required to navigate them wisely. This is where the concept of generativity becomes important.

What is Generativity?

Generativity is a psychological concept introduced by Erik Erikson, one of the most influential developmental psychologists of the 20th century. At its core, generativity refers to the desire and responsibility to invest in future generations; to nurture, guide, teach and contribute to the growth of others.

It reflects a shift from asking:

"What can I achieve for myself?"

to asking:

"What can I help create for those who come after me?"

Generativity is expressed through parenting, mentoring, teaching, leadership, philanthropy, stewardship and the transmission of values, wisdom and opportunity. It is one of the defining characteristics of individuals who create lasting positive impact.

Beyond financial inheritance

Every family passes on more than wealth. Alongside financial assets, families transmit values, beliefs, habits, relationships, attitudes towards responsibility, and ways of navigating the world. The question is not whether a legacy will be passed on, but what that legacy will be.

Our philosophy

Beyond wealth.

Beyond achievement.

Beyond inheritance.

Genera House was founded on a simple belief:

The most valuable asset any family possesses is its people.

While wealth can create opportunity, it cannot automatically provide:

1 Purpose
2 Values
3 Resilience
4 Leadership
5 Unity
